Megan is a water-media artist living in the beautiful state of North Carolina. She
finds inspiration for her paintings from the mountains to the forests to the sea.
Megan paints primarily with watercolors and fluid acrylics; oftentimes adding
elements of collage to her work. She paints in a loose expressive style, adding
details as finishing touches. Her joy of painting comes from the creative process,
experimenting with textures, color, and design.
Megan’s paintings tend to avoid specificity, allowing each individual to make
relevant associations.
“My aim as an artist is to invite the viewer to make a personal connection to my
work; tapping into experiences, memories and emotions of their own.”
Megan has a fine arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. She also studied at
the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia. Before starting her life as a full-
time artist Megan raised 3 children and spent 25 years as a Montessori teacher
and art instructor in Maryland. Once her children were grown, she made the
decision to move to the Asheville area to live her dream as a full-time artist. She
joined several galleries and was the cover artist for The Laurel of Asheville, Rapid
River Magazine, and Welcome to Western North Carolina. After 8 years of
painting and living in the mountains she heard the call of the sea and headed for
the coast.
“Change can be inspiring. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in
such beautiful places.”
Megan continues to paint from her new home in the picturesque town of Beaufort.
She has had several opportunities to show her work since moving to the area.
She also enjoys spending time gardening and walking her pup by the ocean,
collecting shells, feeling the sea-breeze and watching
