Born in Moscow, Russia, Alexandra immigrated to the United States as a child. With her parents’ encouragement, Alexandra began exploring art at an early age. She has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember and studied privately throughout her childhood and adolescence.
After earning a Master’s degree in Art History, specializing in 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art, Alexandra was inspired to pursue a career as a professional artist. Her work has been featured in magazine articles, exhibited in domestic and international exhibitions, recognized in numerous art competitions, and acquired by private collectors in the United States and abroad. She currently lives and works in New York City, where she resides with her husband and two young sons.
Alexandra draws continual inspiration from the beauty of the natural world, particularly flowers and fruit, whose forms possess both sensual elegance and intricate structure. Although their visual beauty first captures her attention, it is the process of painting them that continues to inspire her. The repetition of delicate petals and the intricate geometry of clustered berries create a meditative, almost hypnotic rhythm, bringing a sense of quiet contemplation to her work.
Her compositions are deliberately minimal, often illuminated by direct sunlight that transforms familiar subjects into something subtly fantastical. Through the interplay of light, form, and shadow, she seeks to capture a sense of stillness and intimacy, inviting viewers to pause and look more closely. She is especially drawn to the smallest details—the delicate textures, subtle variations, and intricate patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. These carefully rendered elements give her paintings their distinctive character and reward those who take the time to truly observe.
