My goal as an artist is to convey the joy and awe I feel when experiencing the beauty of this world. I believe an artist reveals the sublime in the ordinary. Beauty is found everywhere not just in the majestic. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember and have worked as a professional artist for most of my adult life.
Painting is the most fulfilling work I’ve ever found, and I am dedicated to striving, always, to be the best artist I can be and to paint for as long as I am capable. My artistic influences are many, the Golden Age Illustrators, American Tonalism, American Impressionism and late academic painters like Isaac Levitan, Peder Monsted, and the landscape paintings of William Merritt Chase and John Singer Sargent.
My technique is to paint from life as much as I can and use those field paintings as a foundation for my larger studio work where time constraints are removed and I can be more contemplative Both disciplines, studio and outdoor work, are extremely rewarding to me as an artist. ~ Armand Cabrera
